The people that make up Haus of Nunsense

Below is a list of all the fabulosa people who make up the Haus of Nunsense. They are mainly scattered around Edinburgh but do reside all over bonnie old Scotland.

  • Sister Alaska Lott

    FOUNDER

    I joined the Order of Perpetual Indulgence in late 2018 with the Convent of Dun Eideann (Edinburgh, Scotland) and I’m proudly pan and #nunbinary.

    My ministry is one of JOY! Most known for my TikTok presence, I dedicate my time to spreading messages of love, support, and acceptance through affirming videos and reaching out to members of the LGBTQ+ community via social media to offer validation and a friendly ear. It’s all about the positiviTEA, honey!

  • Sister Babeushka

    FOUNDER

    I joined the Order of Perpetual Indulgence in late 2018 with the Convent of Dun Eideann (Edinburgh, Scotland) and actually started off as Shady Lady, cause I can throw both glitter and shade depending on the situation.

    When elevating to Black Veil, I changed to this name for three key reasons. 1) I am a fun loving old soul, 2) It’s a good way to honour my love of Kate Bush, because who really doesn’t love the Bush, and 3) It is a reminder to myself that there are places in the world still fighting for equality that need us to keep fighting for the queer community!

  • Sister Ella Mental

    I joined the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in Oct 2020, originally as a member of the Fourth City Sisters in Saint Louis Missouri, USA. After getting to know Sister Alaska Lott through their TikToks, I was invited to be a missionary sister with the Haus of Nunsense and accepted, happily.

    In my community I’m known as “Momma Bear” and some have said I’m a force of nature and a force of nurture.

    My mission is to nurture joy, passion and transformation by representing my community, supporting those who need support and showing kindness and love in a time where it doesn’t seem like there’s enough. My focus is on the intersecting AIDS/HIV and recovery communities within the LGBTQIAA+ community.

    I joined the order of perpetual indulgence in 2011 in my first year of uni. I was looking to help organise pride Scotia and after a few pints I was told I'd make a good nun. The next morning greeted me with a hang over and a surprise manifest where I got the convent of Dùn Èideann into my university to canvas for equal marriage.

    Through my sister journey I've gone across Europe and shared the magic in Bristol, Cardiff and Glasgow.

    My blessing is the weaving of community, the motivation of others and song with glitter. My ministry is to say- "if I can stand 6ft 2 covered in glitter and looking like a fashion panic : then there is room in the world for you, as you choose, loving who ever you choose" Love conquers all so surrender to love !

    I got started with the Haus of Nunsense and The Order of Perpetual Indulgence in 2023. I am trans, use she/they pronouns and my name comes from the fact that all my problems stem from my (drag) mother, so blame them ;)

    My first encounter with the order was during Edinburgh Pride in 2022, but I didn't become a fully-fledged member until February of 2023 after attending the Sisters’ Tea Dance for LGBTQ+ History Month. I've always been someone who loves to make people smile and laugh, so the Haus' mission of spreading joy and helping others very much resonated with my queer little heart.

    Officially joining during the height of the pandemic in 2020, I started by providing in-person support to Sisters that were part of my household and needed practical assistance in a socially-distanced world.

    This included supporting a very careful in-person blessing, taking care to adhere to the strict rules in place at the time, and a livestreamed blackveiling ceremony in late 2020.

    Now I often support the ongoing Haus content creation, setting up equipment and helping Sisters get ready, and contribute ideas for future content creation strategies.
